PODCAST: Episode #57: C-Suite Unplugged: Mark Little, President & CEO, Suncor

From computer enthusiast to CEO of the largest integrated energy company, Mark Little has proven himself to be a leader of vision and impact. And one doesn’t have to look very far to see this to be true.

Take the recent formation of the Oil Sands Pathway to Net Zero coalition, of which Suncor was a founding member, where the majority of Canada’s oil sands companies have committed to becoming net zero.

Or that he was the co-chair for the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business’ Progressive Aboriginal Relations program, an industry-standard corporate social responsibility program with an emphasis on Aboriginal relations.

Or that he was Chair of the Resources of the Future Table for the Industry Strategy Council and outlined how Canada’s resource industries can be global leaders in ESG, clean energy, and technology.

Or that he has been making major moves with Suncor to accelerate emissions reduction, develop low-carbon fuels, and commit to net-zero by 2050 (e.g. developing a world-scale clean hydrogen project here in Alberta in partnership with ATCO).

Whether it’s investing in clean tech, innovating business operations, or actively building meaningful relationships with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities, Mark is focused on the future, doing the right thing, at the right time for people, for the environment, and for the industry.

On this episode, Adam sits down with Mark to discuss his career journey, the mentors and leaders who have shaped his journey, what advice he has for those starting their careers, and the evolution and future of Suncor.
